Trump touts Venezuela oil deal, says it will drive down energy prices worldwide

US President Donald Trump announced a major oil deal with Venezuela. This agreement covers sixty-five billion barrels of oil and aims to lower global energy costs. The deal is expected to boost Venezuela’s oil production significantly over time. Experts, however, believe immediate price changes are unlikely due to infrastructure needs. Trump also linked this policy to wider US interests in the Western Hemisphere.
