Bengaluru Man Murdered by Childhood Friend Over Alleged Affair With Wife

In a shocking incident that has left residents stunned, a Bengaluru man was brutally killed by his childhood friend after tensions erupted over an alleged extramarital affair with the accused’s wife. The chilling crime, which unfolded in the city’s suburban belt, has exposed the dark undercurrents of betrayal, mistrust, and revenge within a decades-old friendship.

The Friendship Turned Fatal

Police said that the victim, identified as Ramesh (32), and the accused, Praveen (33), grew up together in the same neighbourhood and shared a bond that spanned more than two decades. Friends since school, the two were known to be inseparable. However, cracks reportedly began to appear in their relationship after Praveen suspected Ramesh of developing a close relationship with his wife.

Sources revealed that Praveen had confronted Ramesh multiple times about his suspicions, but the latter allegedly denied any wrongdoing. Despite this, tension simmered for months, ultimately boiling over into violence.

The Day of the Murder

According to the police investigation, Praveen allegedly lured Ramesh to a secluded spot on the pretext of discussing a personal matter. The meeting took place late in the evening, away from public view.

What started as a heated verbal argument quickly escalated. Investigators believe Praveen attacked Ramesh with a blunt object, causing fatal injuries. Passersby reportedly discovered Ramesh lying unconscious and alerted authorities, but he was declared dead at a nearby hospital.

The Police Investigation

Officers from the local police station swiftly launched a manhunt for Praveen, who had fled the scene. Within 24 hours, he was tracked down and taken into custody. During interrogation, police claim Praveen confessed to the crime, citing anger and humiliation over the alleged affair as his motive.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) stated,

“This was not a spur-of-the-moment act. The accused had been harbouring resentment for months and planned the attack.”

The authorities are now gathering digital evidence, including call records and CCTV footage, to reconstruct the events leading up to the murder.

Community in Shock

The murder has sent shockwaves through the local community, where both families were well-known. Neighbours expressed disbelief that such a long-standing friendship could end in such a violent manner.

One resident commented,

“They were like brothers. We never imagined something like this could happen between them.”

Family members of the victim are demanding the harshest possible punishment for the accused, while Praveen’s relatives maintain that his actions were driven by emotional turmoil.

The Legal Proceedings

Praveen has been booked under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for murder. If convicted, he faces the possibility of life imprisonment or the death penalty. The court has remanded him to judicial custody as the investigation continues.

Police officials have also hinted that they may question the woman at the centre of the controversy to establish whether the alleged affair had any factual basis, or if it was a case of unfounded suspicion that spiralled into violence.

A Stark Reminder

This tragic incident underscores how personal conflicts, if left unchecked, can escalate into irreversible consequences. Mental health experts emphasise the importance of seeking counselling or mediation in cases of marital discord or interpersonal disputes, rather than resorting to violence.

As Bengaluru grapples with this grim episode, the story serves as a sobering reminder that trust, once broken, can lead to devastating outcomes—turning lifelong friends into bitter enemies.
