Airports across India have been placed on high alert following intelligence inputs suggesting potential terror threats. In a swift and coordinated response, aviation security agencies and central intelligence bodies have issued precautionary advisories to all airports, urging heightened vigilance, stricter screening, and increased deployment of security personnel.
According to government sources, security agencies intercepted credible inputs hinting at possible attempts by terrorist elements to target civil aviation infrastructure. Though specific locations or dates were not disclosed publicly due to operational sensitivity, the threat is being taken seriously across all major airports, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
To ensure public safety and prevent any untoward incidents, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), in coordination with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and airport authorities, has activated a set of security protocols:
Airports have advised passengers to report at least 3 hours in advance for domestic flights and 4 hours for international travel to accommodate the additional security checks. Airlines have also been instructed to remain alert and report any abnormal activity immediately to airport control rooms and law enforcement agencies.
Airport security units are working in close coordination with local police, Intelligence Bureau (IB), and National Investigation Agency (NIA) to track any suspicious movements or communications. The aim is to neutralize any threats preemptively and maintain seamless functioning of airport operations without compromising safety.
This nationwide alert follows global concerns around aviation security, especially in the wake of increased geopolitical tensions and sporadic terror activities targeting public infrastructure in various parts of the world. Indian authorities are leaving no room for complacency, especially with upcoming festivals and increased passenger flow during holiday travel.
As of now, flight operations continue without disruption, though minor delays due to enhanced screening processes are being reported at some terminals. Passengers are urged to cooperate with security officials and avoid carrying restricted or prohibited items to reduce clearance delays.
Security agencies are urging the public to stay alert, not panic, and immediately report any suspicious objects, unattended luggage, or unusual activity at airports. A national helpline and quick response teams have been activated at major airports to respond to emergencies without delay.
The elevation of security levels at Indian airports is a preventive measure intended to safeguard millions of air travellers and critical infrastructure. While no specific threat has been confirmed, authorities are leaving no stone unturned to prevent any potential incident. The message is clear: safety first, vigilance always.
For now, India’s aviation sector stands resilient, with its multi-layered security apparatus working round-the-clock to protect lives and maintain calm in the skies.
