Popular content creator and actress Kusha Kapila has openly discussed her battle with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), weight gain, and the social stigma that often accompanies it. Speaking on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast All About Her, she shared a deeply personal account of her health journey, aiming to raise awareness and inspire others facing similar challenges.
Kusha revealed that she was diagnosed with PCOS as a teenager, around 18 or 19 years old. She recalled noticing symptoms like unexplained weight gain and excessive hair growth, which eventually led her to consult medical professionals. The diagnosis helped explain the challenges she had been facing, but managing the condition required persistent effort and lifestyle adjustments.
Discussing societal reactions, Kusha candidly said, “There’s so much shame attached to it.” She highlighted how weight gain due to PCOS is often unfairly judged, creating emotional and psychological pressure for those affected. Her honesty underscores the importance of empathy and understanding when it comes to health-related issues.
Rather than seeking quick fixes, Kusha focused on long-term wellness strategies. She adopted balanced nutrition, regular exercise, and mindfulness practices to manage her condition holistically. Her approach emphasizes overall health, mental well-being, and self-acceptance over mere aesthetic goals.
Kusha also shared that she was diagnosed with ADHD, which helped her understand certain behavioral patterns and equipped her with tools to cope better with daily challenges.
By speaking openly about her journey, Kusha hopes to break the silence around PCOS and inspire people to prioritize their health without feeling ashamed. Her story is a reminder that seeking help and practicing self-care are acts of strength, not weakness.
